William E. Weaver
November 30, 1926 - January 27, 2022
William Elige Weaver, age 95, went home to be with the Lord on January 27, 2022. Bill was a wonderful brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend and will be dearly missed by all that knew him. Bill was born in State Line, Mississippi on November 30, 1926. He grew up in Yellow Pine, MS and was the second to the oldest child in a family of 11 children. Bill left home and moved to Jacksonville, Fl in the late 1940’s where he met the love of his life Ellen. They married in 1950 and had two sons, Billy and Larry. Bill joined the Army after the boys were born and served in the 101st Airborne Division. Later, Bill had a long and successful career as a welder in the Electro Motor Division of General Motors. Bill loved the Lord and served as a deacon in his church. He and Ellen were faithful and longtime members of the Allendale Baptist Church and later Heart Haven Baptist Church. Bill loved to hear the preacher sing Beula Land, his favorite song. Bill loved the outdoors, and you could often find him sitting on the porch just watching the squirrels and birds. He loved golfing, fishing, and putting in a garden with Ellen every year. Bill always had a smile and loved visiting with family and friends. If you knew Bill, then you knew his favorite place to eat every day was Waffle House. They knew “Sweet Pea” well and would have his order of black coffee, two eggs over-easy, grits, 4 slices of crispy bacon, and dry toast, ready for him as he walked in the door. Bill was a devoted husband and took wonderful care of Ellen as her eyesight diminished and her health declined. Bill was predeceased by parents Yealous and Lillie Weaver, wife Ellen McKay Weaver, son William Weaver, sisters Margarette Stanton, Dorothy James, Ethel Lee; brothers Robert Weaver, Gene Weaver, and Arthur Weaver. Bill is survived by his son Larry Weaver and wife Wanda, daughter in law Sue Weaver, four sisters Alice Cato, Marie Ethridge (Wayne), Earline Lee, Bonnie Price (Dennis), and Ellen’s brother, Wayne McKay and wife Frances, as well as Ellen's sister Janie Smith; six grandchildren, Lisa Cottrell (David), Kristi DeLong (Taj), Adam Weaver, Marc Weaver (Shannan); DeWayne Williams, Billy Vickers (Loretta); fourteen great-grandchildren, Haden and Hanna Cottrell, and Skyler, Chase, Clay, Ashlyn, Cory Weaver; Dalton (Autumn) Williams, Taylor Preston, Lance, Paul, Samantha, Brian Vickers; and Elizabeth Booth; eleven great-great grandchildren, Monice and Anthony Booth; Kassie, Kason, Kyler, Jayson, Callie, Lillie, Logan, Gracie Vickers, and Dawson Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews in the Weaver and McKay families.
