January 1, 1947 - August 17, 2021
On Tuesday August 17, 2021, Jan Paula Kelly, loving wife and mother to three children, was received into the arms of her Loving Savior at the age of 74. Jan was born on January 1, 1947, in Jacksonville, Fl. to Herbert and Carolyn Langenfeld. She would later join the Boatright Family and affectionately referred to Clem A. Boatright as “Dad”. On January 1, 1963 she married William “Avery” Kelly Jr. and together they lovingly raised three sons. She received a Nursing Degree from Florida Community College of Jacksonville and worked at Nassau General Hospital in Fernandina Beach, Fl.; Baptist Primary Care in Callahan, Fl.; and for a season, provided Instruction to students at Hilliard High School who had a desire to enter the field of nursing upon graduation. Although recognized for her expertise in each of these areas of employment, her greatest contributions were made alongside her adoring husband of 58 years in faithful ministry. Her lifelong selfless sacrifice and influence offered to those in need of physical, spiritual, and emotional support will extend for generations to come. Jan had a lifelong passion for music that glorified the name of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. As an outstanding Alto and pianist, she was always in demand, as was her participation in leading teen, children, or adult ensembles. In the rola of “Nana” to family, she was the epitome of a southern cook who cherished and orchestrated Sundays where the family would gather and together enjoy the immeasurable blessings of God. Her vigilant watch care, fervent prayers, and devoted participation with family throughout her years have permanently secured her place in the hearts of her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jan Kelly was predeceased by her father, Clem, her mother Carolyn, and a sister Karen Scroggins. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Dr. William “Avery” Kelly Jr; her three children, Avery Kelly III of Atlantic Beach, Fl.; Dr. Michael (Lindi) Kelly of Kingsland, Ga.; and David (Kersti) Kelly of Callahan, Fl. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren as well as brothers Clem (Valeris) Boatright; Rusty (Kelly) Boatright; and Lynn (Wayne) Thomas. A Memorial Service to celebrate Jan’s life will be held on Saturday, September 4, at 10:00a.m. at First Baptist Church of Valdosta, located at 200 W. Central Ave. Valdosta, Ga. 31601, where visitation will start at 9:30 a.m. Dr. Mike Kelly will officiate the service and be joined by Dr. Wayne Higginbotham and Dr. Chuck Owens who will also share additional words of comfort. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.callahanfh.com for the Kelly Family.
