Gordon D. Smith

March 20, 1942 - December 3, 2021

Gordon Dallas Smith, 79, was born in Wilmington, Delaware and spent his childhood in Philadelphia and Claymont, Delaware. Dallas graduated from the University of Colorado and worked in newspaper and radio advertising in Chicago. After starting as a volunteer and paid – on – call firefighter, Dallas became a career firefighter in suburban Chicago serving as a Firefighter, Firefighter-Paramedic, Lieutenant, and District Chief. Dallas also served as Department Medical Officer, Training Officer, and Fire Inspector. After retirement, Dallas completed a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, Pa. Ordained as an Episcopal Priest, Dallas served in three Christian ministries and helped raise two step-sons. Dallas is survived by his wife Penelope (Penny) Roberts Smith and his step-sons Chandler Mays and Austin Mays, a JFRD Firefighter-Paramedic. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dallas’ memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Callahan (for Mission Outreach.) Condolences may be expressed at www.callahanfh.com.
