Charles W. Morris, 84 of Callahan, passed away on November 26, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Morris was born on March 3, 1927 in Averill, South Carolina to Herman Otto & Mable Edith Murphy Morris. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Merchant Marine, was a 50 year plus Mason, and during his working years helped construct large structures such as the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, among others. Mr. Morris is predeceased by his wife of over 50 years Grace P. Morris (2009). Survivors include 2 daughters Robyn Morris Sweat and Rhonda Morris (Wayne) McLendon, a sister Joann , brother Ray, as well as 3 grandsons Robbie (Jen) Sweat, Ryan Sweat, and Shawn McLendon. He is also survived by 3 great-grandsons Trent, Trey, and Clay Sweat. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 29th from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Callahan Funeral Home with Funeral Services also in the Chapel on Wed. 11/30/2011 @ 11:00a.m. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow in Jones Cemetery, Callahan, with Kenny Farmer, Wayne Usher, Earl Wright, and Dwayne McLendon serving as pallbearers.
